Trident 2

Nigel Griffiths, the Deputy Leader of the House of Commons has resigned today with a "heavy heart but a clear conscious".

The question is how many more will go before Wednesday. Stephen Pound and Jim Devine are others said to be considering their position within the government.

What's clear is that there will be a Parliamentary Labour party rebellion on Wednesday of sufficient magnitude to force the Government to rely on Tory votes to get them through. What a fitting epitaph for the Blair regime in its final days.

fitting indead ted. This could really be the final disaster of the Blair administration and lead to his stepping down. The tory vote got him into power now we'll see it get him out. It's going to be very interesting to hear what Labour AM's and Tory AM's have to say if their London masters voting through such an unppopular decision. If they are willing to be funded and run by them then they can not say the decisions are taken by someone else

isn't interesting that its always Scottish Labour Ministers resigning. It was Robin Cook during Iraq and now its Nigel Griffiths, and Jim Devine (apparently).

Whera re the Welsh ministers acting on principle?
